In March of 2023 Maverick walked up to Kenzie in a dance hall and asked her if she’d like to dance. The two, not knowing each other or each others friends, danced a few times that night and by the end of the night Maverick had gotten Kenzie’s number. He texted her the next day, asking her to go to church with him, but got quickly turned down by Kenzie saying “I appreciate the offer but I already have plans

A few months go by with Kenzie living two and a half hours away, only coming to the Dallas to visit friends on the weekends occasionally. Within this time Maverick had slowly, but intentionally managed to befriend all of the friends that Kenzie regularly goes dancing with.

By October of 2023 Maverick had become apart of Kenzie’s friend group and the two were regularly hanging out in group settings. While Maverick had in the back of his mind to play the long game, Kenzie was sure he was without a doubt just a friend.

From October 2023 to January 2024 Kenzie only saw Maverick on occasional weekends, but she was constantly in contact with her girl friends that were in the same friend group in Dallas. In those 4 months she learned through her friends and the weekends seeing Maverick how much he loved the Lord, his passion for business and how similar their interests actually were. Her heart and thoughts of him started to shift.

At the end of January 2024 Kenzie found herself praying that the Lord would reopen the door to Maverick if it was His will. All the while Maverick had already been praying for Kenzie.

In early February 2024 Maverick found himself alone with Kenzie for the first time during one of their regular friend get togethers and he took full advantage of the opportunity. He asked Kenzie on a date and to his full surprise she gladly said yes.

In February they went on their first date to Perry’s steak house and then of course went dancing afterwards. They talked for several hours and decided by the end of the night that they needed to go on a second date the very next day!

By March of 2024 they knew that their relationship was something that would become very serious very quickly and decided to make it official.

By the end of April 2024 Maverick asked Kenzie’s Dad for her hand in marriage. In June of 2024 Maverick made a song for Kenzie called “Oklahoma Smokeshow” and proposed to her during the shooting of the music video.

Wedding Vows

On September 14th, 2024 they finally got to make vows to each other and to God that they would love each other in sickness and in health and they would use their marriage to point others to Christ until the day they go to heaven.
